► CAMEROON: Camair-Co to bid for one of Air India's B777-200LRs?

Camair-Co
Cameroon's national carrier, Camair-Co (QC), has reportedly set its sights on acquiring one of Air India's five B777-200(LR)s that were recently put up for sale. Abu-Dhabi-based megacarrier, Etihad (EY), has also expressed an interest in the jets.

Quoting unnamed sources close to the deal, the Wall Street Journal said that Douala had already sent a team to Delhi to inspect the aircraft. Whether Camair-Co will acquire or lease the aircraft from a third party is uncertain. The Indian national carrier's board is expected to make a decision on the bids submitted for the aircraft in due course.

Camair-Co has often blamed its current sole B767-300(ER)'s inadequate onboard premium-class product for the airline's lack of competitiveness on longhaul routes to Europe and saw the 777 as a more suitable replacement.
