British Airways (BA) will once again boost its London Heathrow – Johannesburg, South Africa frequencies from 14x to 17x weekly effective 29 April 2013. A Boeing 777-200ER will add capacity.

►► CHINA: TAAG Angolan increases flights to Beijing from November.
[UPDATE 12 NOVEMBER 2012] Effective 1 November 2012, Angolan national carrier, TAAG Angola Airlines (DT), will double its Boeing 777-200ER operated flights between Luanda, Angola and Beijing, China from once weekly, to twice weekly.

►► GHANA: Ethiopian makes various operational changes to Accra, Abidjan, Cotonou, Lomé and Ouagadougou flights from late November.
Effective 25 November 2012, Ethiopian Airlines (ET) will adjust its operations to Accra, Abidjan, Cotonou, Lomé and Ouagadougou service. Of particular interest is that Accra will receive a daily 787 service, replacing its current 757.

► RWANDA: Air Uganda introduces extra Saturday flight to Kigali.
Air Uganda (U7) have announced an increase in their Entebbe, Uganda - Kigali, Rwanda flights effective immediately. The Bombardier CRJ-200ER operated flights will now fly daily with the addition of an extra Saturday frequency.

► SOUTH AFRICA: Kenya Airways increases Johannesburg flights from December.
With effect from 1 December 2012, Kenya Airways (KQ) will increase its flights to South Africa with the introduction of an additional
four weekly flights between Nairobi and Johannesburg (ORTIA), South Africa, using its newly acquired Embraer E-190.

► FRANCE: Tunisia's Syphax Airlines boosts Paris CDG to daily from late October.
Tunisian carrier, Syphax Airlines (FS), will from 28 October 2012, launch daily A319-operated flights between the Tunisian capital, Tunis, and Paris CDG, four months after the route was originally meant to have gone daily.

► CONGO (KINSHASA): Korongo adds Mbuji-Mayi from late October.
As previously reported by The African Aviation Tribune, Congolese carrier Korongo Airlines (ZC), have announced plans for twice weekly flights between Lubumbashi and Mbuji-Mayi (Eastern Kasai) and Kinshasa and Mbuji-Mayi respectively, effective 31 October 2012.

► TANZANIA: KLM boosts Kilimanjaro to 9x weekly from December.
From 27 December 2012 until 10 March 2013, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL) is to increase its flight frequency between Amsterdam, Holland and Kilimanjaro, Tanzania from daily to 9x weekly. The added flights will operate on a Thursday and Saturday ex-Schipol.

►► TUNISIA: Emirates cancels planned Tunis reduction to 5x weekly service from December.
[SEE UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM] Following on from its previous announcement, Dubai based carrier Emirates (EK) will, from 1 December 2012, reduce its weekly service from Dubai to Tunis, Tunisia, from daily to 5x weekly; Mondays and Sundays being nixed.
► SOMALIA: Turkish Airlines boosts Djibouti and Mogadishu flights from 2013 on.
Turkish Airlines (TK) will, starting from 26 January 2013, increase its current 2x weekly Boeing 737-800 operated Istanbul – Djibouti – Mogadishu (Somalia) service, to 3x weekly by adding a Saturday flight to the roster.

► SOUTH AFRICA: BA Comair increases Durban – Cape Town Weekday flights from late October 2012.
South African franchise, British Airways (Comair) (BA/MN), has announced an increase in their Durban – Cape Town weekday flights with the addition of 3x to 4x additional daily flights, with effect from 29 October 2012.
The flights are operated with a mixture of Boeing 737-300s and Boeing 737-400s.

► FRANCE: Egyptair increases capacity to Paris from December 2012.
Egyptian airline, Egyptair (MS), will from 1 December 2012, replace its current daily Airbus A330-300 operated service to Paris Charles de Gaulle, France with a larger Boeing 777-300ER.
This comes after the carrier previously announced that from 28 October
2012 it would increase frequencies on the route from daily to 11x
weekly.

► SEYCHELLES: Emirates to go 12x weekly from December, 13x weekly from February 2013.
Emirates (EK) is to increase its Airbus A340-500 operated flights between Dubai and Mahé, Seychelles from 11x weekly, to 12x weekly with an added Monday flight effective 3 December 2012. From 5 February 2013, the airline is to add a 13th weekly frequency on a Tuesday.

South African Express Airways (XZ), better known as SA Express, has announced, effective 2 September 2012, it’ll introduce a 6th daily operation on its Johannesburg – Gaborone, Bostwana route while domestically the airline will add a 4th weekly Cape Town – George, South Africa flight in addition to increasing its Johannesburg – George, South Africa route frequencies from 20x to 24x weekly.

► MAURITANIA: New agreement to increase Nouakchott - Casablanca flights.
With the signing of a new Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between Mauritania and Morocco last week, Mauritania Airlines International (L6) and Moroccan national carrier Royal Air Maroc (AT) will each be able to operate seven weekly flights between Nouakchott and Casablanca.

► MAURITIUS: Emirates to go 14x weekly as Air Mauritius, Air Austral & Air Madagascar band together to survive.
Bucking the ongoing trend amongst European carriers of reducing their frequencies to the Indian Ocean island, Dubai based mega-carrier, Emirates (EK), has announced an increase in its weekly frequencies from 11x weekly to 12x weekly from 28 October 2012, with the route going 14x weekly from 28 November 2012.
