■ MOZAMBIQUE: AdM issues tender for renovation, upgrade works for Maputo International Airport's runway 05/23.

Aeroportos de Moçambique LOGOAeroportos de Moçambique (AdM) has reportedly issued a tender to all interested parties pertaining to the renovation, upgrading and expansion of Maputo International Airport's main 3'660m (12'007ft) long  runway 05/23, apron, and other facilities including all airfield lighting systems. The project is Phase III of the airport's upgrading programme.

► SOUTH AFRICA: SAA officially issues tenders to Boeing, Airbus for 23 widebodies.

SAA logoConfirming former interim CEO Nico Bezuidenhout's statement regarding an order for 25-30 widebody aircraft, likely to be either 787s or A350s, South African Airways (SA) Chief Financial Officer, Mr Wolf Meyer, has confirmed that the airline has indeed issued a tender to both Boeing and Airbus for "twenty-three" aircraft, set to be delivered from 2017 onwards.

► MOROCCO: Royal Air Maroc names Sukhoi, Bombardier and Embraer for possible 100-seater tender.

Royal Air Maroc RAMRoyal Air Maroc (AT) says it will tender for between 12 and 15 new 100-seater aircraft should trials with two Embraer E190s, currently on lease from Holland's Denim Air ACMI, prove to be successful. Among the contenders mentioned are Bombardier's C-Series, Embraer E190 and surprisingly, Sukhoi's Super Jet 100.

■ ETHIOPIA: Ethiopian Airlines in talks with international firms over construction of a 4* hotel in downtown Addis Ababa.

EthiopianEthiopian Airlines (ET) is reportedly in fresh talks with unnamed international companies regarding the design, construction, vendor finance and management of a proposed four-star (previously 5 star) hotel it wants to build on 40'000sqm of prime real estate in downtown Addis Ababa on the newly revamped African Avenue.
