► SOUTH AFRICA: And suddenly a new LCC, FlySafair, appears aiming for a Q4 launch.

South Africa’s Air Service Licensing Council has given local ACMI & MRO specialists, Safair (FA), the go ahead for its LCC startup, FlySafair, to launch domestic operations in the last quarter of this year. Tickets for its planned Cape Town - Johannesburg (OR Tambo International) route are expected to go on sale in September.

► MOZAMBIQUE: BA Comair to start Johannesburg ORTIA - Maputo flights from May 2013.

Comair Ltd has confirmed that its British Airways franchise will start daily return flights with a double daily service on Tuesdays and Saturdays between Johannesburg ORTIA and Maputo, Mozambique from 4 May 2013 using a Boeing 737-400. Bookings are now open.

Nigeria's second largest domestic airline, Aero Contractors (AJ), has acquired two additional Boeing 737-400 aircraft, bringing its total fleet to 12, the company's publicists said in a statement Monday.

► NIGERIA: Med-View Airlines to launch on 8 November with Lagos - Abuja, Lagos Port Harcourt.

Med-View Airline (VL) have announced they will launch scheduled ops effective Thursday 8 November 2012. According to its lulzy, amateurish website, the airline will operate domestically with Lagos - Abuja, Lagos - Port Harcourt as its initial routes, whilst Abuja - Port Harcourt and Maiduguri - Yola are to come later.
