► JAPAN: Egyptair wants to drop Tokyo and Osaka routes citing poor governmental support.

EgyptairThe Associated Press is reporting that Egyptian national carrier, Egyptair (MS), says it will cease operating flights to Japan until further notice citing "major economic losses and lack of support from either the Egyptian or Japanese governments."

In a statement on Saturday, the airline said that several of its routes "have become an economic burden", especially flights to the Japanese cities of Tokyo Narita and Osaka.

Egyptair has in the past reduced ops to Tokyo from 3x weekly, to 2x weekly owing to low passenger uptake.

At present, flights to both Narita and Osaka still reflect in the system though this could change in due course.

Earlier this month, Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation, Wael al-Maddawy, said Egyptair has posted cumulative losses of USD880million (EGP6billion) since the 2011 Egyptian revolution
