■ GABON: France, Gabon sign new BASA; Air France to start Paris - Port Gentil?

GabonFollowing that which it signed with Luxembourg in late November, Gabon has signed a modified air transport agreement with France under which airlines from the two countries will be able to operate additional flights to the Central African state.

The Gabonese deputy minister for Transport, Emmanuel Jean Biyé, signed the cooperation agreement, Gabonese national television (RTG) reported on Tuesday. Under the agreement between Gabon and France, Air France (AF) will be able to "operate seven flights per week between France and Gabon".

In a recent press release, Gabon's civil aviation authority, Agence Nationale De l’Aviation Civile (ANAC), stated that Air France had also asked for an option to serve Gabon's second city of Port Gentil 3x weekly, to which Gabon had granted consent "in principle", though the issue was said to be open "to further negotiations and also depended upon the certification of the renovated airport there."
