The General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SGHM) in the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, stated it had successfully provided aviation security training to the managers of the SSCAA.

The SSCAA managers were taken to Turkey through the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) and attended the aviation security training program, the SGHM said. The training programs aim to support the development of the region's aviation standards and to assist in airline operations, which has seen rapid growth in the continent's newest member.

Turkey is also strongly involved in helping to set up and rehabilitate Somalia's shattered aviation infrastructure and expertise base.
