► TANZANIA: Proflight Zambia to start Dar es Salaam from late October; plans to boost Lilongwe from November.

Proflight ZambiaProflight Zambia (P0) has announced plans to launch a 3x weekly Lusaka to Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania service with effect from October 23. According to the airline, as it stands, only a Day 1 & 5 operation have been set with confirmation from regulators on the timing.of a Wednesday slot still pending. Operations are on-board a Jetstream 41 turboprop. In addition, the carrier is also hoping to boost its Lilongwe flights to 4x weekly effective November 16, subject to regulatory approval. 

The new service is the second international route for the Zambian airline, which started flying to Lilongwe in Malawi in June.
Proflight is determined to ensure that Zambia becomes a regional aviation hub, enabling easy and convenient connections from our nine domestic destinations to cities throughout Southern Africa,” said Proflight Director of Government and Industry Affairs Capt. Philip Lemba. “Dar-es-Salaam is the next step in a plan that we hope will see Proflight grow into the airline of choice throughout the region.
Should flights commence, Proflight would be the first scheduled operator on the route since Precision Air (PW) of Tanzania withdrew in June. Tanzanian LCC fastjet (FN) has also been awarded traffic rights to Lusaka but has yet to announce a launch date.
