► NIGERIA: Chanchangi Airlines takes delivery of a South African B737-500 on wet-lease.

Chanchangi Airlines logoKaduna-based Chanchangi Airlines (5B) has reportedly taken delivery of a B737-500 (MSN ? | 5N-BQZ) on wet-lease from an unnamed South African leaser. The aircraft reportedly arrived in Abuja on Saturday August 10.

A spokesman for the airline, Mr. Oludele Balogun, said the aircraft would be deployed on flights to Lagos, Abuja, Yola, Port Harcourt, Owerri and Uyo routes, amongst others. At present however, the airline's booking portal only reflects flights Kaduna, Abuja and Lagos as destinations though no flights are currently available for booking. It also holds rights to Accra, Abidjan, Dakar, Malabo and Douala. ch-aviation lists the airline has having two other B737-300s, one of which is currently inoperative.

Plagued by inconsistency throughout its 20 year existence, Chanchangi announced a resumption of flights in December 2012.
