Following speculation in the French aviation press, Air France (AF) has shot down any chance of closer strategic and financial ties with Mauritian carrier, Air Mauritius. The possibility of a tie up was discussed with French President François Hollande during the visit of Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navin Ramgoolam, to the Elysee Palace on January 21. |

In an interview with French tourism paper Pros-du-Tourisme, the President and CEO of Air France, Alexandre de Juniac, brushed aside the notion stating:
"This warrants the same answer as we gave Alitalia; we do not have the means," he said.

Air France at present owns a direct 2.78% stake in the national airline of Mauritius.
Air Mauritius has said in the past that it would like to find a strategic partner who could assist with MK's own required future fleet renewal plans.
