► KENYA: (Video) Ethiopian successfully resumes 787 ops with flight to Nairobi; Frankfurt to follow.

Boeing's incident plagued aircraft, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, has successfully resumed operations for Ethiopian Airlines (ET) following the replacement of the aircraft's problematic Li-ion battery; the cause of  the Dreamliner fleet's grounding since mid-January.

Following a week of intensive repairs and upgrades, Ethiopian flight ET801, operated by the airline's first 787-8 (MSN 34744 | ET-AOP), took off from Addis Ababa's Bole International Airport at 10h40L and arrived at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 12h45L. On-board were various VIPs as well as Ethiopian CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam. The flight's departure was witnessed by Randy Tinseth, Boeing's Vice President of Marketing, and Boeing’s corporate communication head, Adam Morgan.

The 787's first international flight, to Frankfurt, is scheduled for this evening, Sunday 28 April.
