■ LIBYA: Libyan Airlines selects OnAir for onboard wifi connectivity for its four A330s, with two due next month.

Libyan Airlines logoLibyan carrier, Libyan Airlines, (LN), set to take delivery of its first of four Airbus A330s next month, has selected OnAir to provide on-board internet broadband connectivity. The aircraft will fly on long-haul international routes to Asia and Europe.

Libyan Airlines has opted for full GSM and Wi-Fi connectivity, giving passengers the widest choice available. OnAir, the only provider to offer consistent global coverage because of its unique network of regulatory authorizations from over 90 countries and more than 350 roaming agreements, uses Inmarsat SwiftBroadband, the only satellite network specifically designed for global coverage.

Usage of Mobile OnAir has proved popular on our A320s and we are very excited about having the full range of connectivity options on our new A330s from May,” said Fauzi Zaghonni of Libyan Airlines. “We are an ambitious airline, we were very keen to provide our passengers with the very best services particularly on our new fleet, which must include inflight connectivity. As we grow our route network by new fleet equipped with ’OnAir's connectivity, we need to be confident that we will be able to provide the same high level of service everywhere. OnAir is our solution to make these services available on board.
Libyan Airlines' new agreement with Airbus/SITA joint venture OnAir follows an August 2009 deal that will see the airline equip its new Airbus A320s with connectivity. Mobile OnAir and Internet OnAir have been linefitted on four Libyan Airlines’ A330-200 aircraft in time for the May delivery of the first two, followed by another two next year in May.
